Evolutionary Excellence: Introducing the new G1 - Redefining Versatility

The New 2025 G1, born from the collaboration between Geometron Bikes and Nicolai Bikes. Five years since its initial release in 2019, the new G1 retains its trailblazing attributes, being one of the most adaptable and robust all-round mountain bike frames on the market.

The G1 epitomises the vision of a versatile, comfortable, and rugged mountain bike. Rather than slotting into a specific category, the G1 is designed to be the go-to option for riders seeking a single bike capable of conquering any off-road challenge.

The G1 chassis stands as the cornerstone of revolutionary mountain bike geometry, redefining modern standards in mountain biking and setting the benchmark for performance and reliability: Ride with confidence and conquer any challenge. Developed continuously from the groundbreaking G16 in 2015, which diverted from conventional mountain bike geometries. The Geometron geometry numbers are not just arbitrary figures but the culmination of extensive research and rigorous testing. The result is ride characteristics that elevate both novice and seasoned riders to newfound levels of confidence, control and fun. The revolutionary geometry, adjustable frame concept and customisable build options conceived by Geometron cater to a wide range of riding styles and disciplines, from aggressive downhill shredding or party laps with your mates, to technical multi day trail riding and everything in between. The G1 has gained numerous accolades, from taking riders down their first black run at a bike park or first off piste trail at their local, taming the gnarliest world cup race courses, epic endurance challenges to podiums at multi day enduro races.

The G1 puts the power in the hands of the rider allowing for precise tuning of every aspect of the bike’s performance. With a plethora of configuration choices, from the simplest adjustments to the most intricate setups, the possibilities are limitless.

The new Geometron

G1

Built to last

It's a Geometron for a reason

The G1 offers a complete solution for riders seeking the ultimate mountain biking experience with maximum stoke at the end of each ride. Crafted from premium materials and components, the G1 exemplifies uncompromising quality and reliability. From the meticulously handcrafted aluminium frame produced in Germany by Nicolai bikes, to the top-of-the-line bespoke suspension components fastidiously developed and manufactured in Italy by Extreme racing shox, every facet of the G1 is engineered to endure the rigours of the trail. The new G1 introduces several key changes aimed at elevating the riding experience.

While the G1 name remains unchanged and our approach has proven itself, the 2025 G1 brings forth key updates.

One of the standout enhancements in the new G1 is the implementation of proportional frame sizing, a feature born out of extensive in-house testing, customer feedback and test numerous rides. Recognising the need for riders of all sizes and genders to experience consistent ride quality, we have meticulously crafted each frame size to ensure that every rider, whether 202cm or 160cm (6’8” or 5’3”), enjoys the same ride feel. The attention to proportional frame sizing not only enhances comfort and control but also underscores our dedication to inclusivity and rider satisfaction.

At the heart of the G1's design philosophy lies its adjustability

Empowering riders to fine-tune every aspect of their ride experience

The key to the G1’s adaptability are the super easily changeable modular frame adjusters, aptly named Mutators located at the chain stay and seat stay. They  allow for incremental changes to the head angle, bottom bracket height, chainstay length and most importantly to change wheel size. Independently isolating geometry changes without compromising other ride characteristics. This system enables riders to optimise weight distribution and handling characteristics according to their preferences and the demands of the trail.

The broad range of adjustments available within a single frame might initially seem daunting, but rest assured, it is simpler than it appears. We have meticulously developed a base geometry through many years of rigorous in-house testing and collaboration with our customers. Each frame size features a base configuration, which is a specifically chosen combination of frame mutators.

From this starting point, you have the option to fine-tune your frame’s geometry beyond our base configuration. This is where our mutation chart becomes essential. We have created a highly useful tool that enables you to determine the extent of adjustment possible within your frame and identify the necessary mutator combinations for various geometries and wheel size configurations. Now, you can step into the matrix and begin customizing your frame to your exact preferences.

Follow the link below to find the mutation chart and a detailed G1 tech sheet.

Updated frame standards

With an eye towards innovation and compatibility, the new G1 introduces updates to accommodate the latest bicycle frame standards. This required a completely redesigned rear end which includes the innovative RADO (REAR ALIGNING DROPOUT). It has been redesigned to accommodate the SRAM UDH standard and also continues to allow  precise alignment during the assembly stage of the frame. The G1 ensures seamless compatibility with all drivetrain setups, offering riders increased flexibility and ease of maintenance. The frame is also thoughtfully designed to accommodate new generation single-crown, long-travel Enduro suspension forks with revisions to the geometry and fork size specifications. Now with its ZS56/ZS56 headtube, the G1 offers even more adjustment capabilities offering reach +/- 5mm or head angle adjustments with optional headset cups. Riders who are between frame sizes can fine-tune their setup in the front triangle to perfectly match their individual preferences and riding styles.

(for anyone reading this with an original G1, the new UDH rear end is retrofittable to your frame.)

Fresh Design Language

The G1 showcases a fresh design language aimed at elevating both aesthetics and uncompromising performance. The most distinguishable feature of this update is the redesigned top tube, which not only enhances the bike’s sleek profile but also improves rider manoeuvrability on the trail. By lowering the top tube 25mm, riders are afforded greater freedom of movement, allowing for enhanced agility and control to set new PR’s on descents or click new levels of steeze in the air. Integrated seat tube and head tube gussets further reinforce the frame, increasing stiffness for a more responsive ride feel. Additionally, the seat tube features a continuous internal profile, allowing easy  integration of long dropper posts. These refinements underscore Geometron’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of mountain bike design, marrying form and function seamlessly.

Here's what you can play with and details not to be overlooked:

  • 5 different front centre lengths.
  • 6 different rear centre lengths achieved with chain stay mutators that are compatible with all of the 5 front centres.
  • Wheel size options: full 29”, 29/27.5” or full 27.5”.
  • Seat Stay Mutators- incremental BB height and head angle adjustments possible.

Frame details not to be overlooked:

  • External brake hose and gear cable routing – robust and user friendly.
  • Threaded 73mm wide bottom bracket (BSA standard).
  • Replaceable threaded inserts located throughout the frame for frame longevity.
  • New two part chain stay protector with integrated cable routing and replaceable rubber strips.
  • Straight seat tube for long dropper post insertion.

Rear wheel travel options:

  • Base configuration:
    • 230x65mm shock – 162/175mm travel at the rear, 170/180mm travel at the front
  • Short travel configuration:
    • 210x55mm shock – 142/155mm travel at the rear, 140/150mm travel at the front
  • Long travel configuration:
    • 250x75mm shock – 182/200mm travel at the rear, 190/200mm travel at the front

Frame bearing and its protection concept selected based on load case and exposure to the environment:

Full complement deep groove and angular contact ENDURO ball bearings are used throughout the G1’s frame. The bearings are protected within the frame with additional o-ring seals that are strategically placed in the bearing caps and bearing spacers. Combined with the bearings seals, this offers a quadruply sealed system and guarantees a long bearing life.

G1 Shock Lever

The right setting for every trail.

In its base configuration with a 230x65mm shock intended for enduro/aggressive trail riding or long days in the mountains the G1 has 162mm or 175mm Rear wheel travel (RWT) easily adjustable with two mounting positions in the shock lever. This adjustment not only changes the RWT of the bike but also the linkage curve and in turn the suspension feel and attitude of the bike. See the linkage characteristics below.

Optimised 4 bar linkage system - The G1 key features:

Progressive linkage design with a constant rate of change. 31% total increase in progression from its starting point in the travel at a ratio of 3.4.

This means the force required to compress the suspension increases throughout the stroke more than just the spring rate alone, a constant rate change keeps things predictable. This characteristic provides a soft initial part of the stroke to improve sensitivity, gives the rider support when loading the bike dynamically or taking bigger impacts and gives sufficient mechanical resistance at the end of the stroke to reduce bottom out forces.

Anti Squat value of 100% at 30% SAG, rider in the seated climbing position with a Center of Gravity (CoG) of 1180mm (size large frame) and 32/44T gearing.

This provides a neutral pedalling behaviour which is efficient and neither constrains the suspension system to bob/squat or extend/block, improving traction and comfort on technical climbs.

Anti Rise value of 62% at 30% SAG, rider in a descending position with a CoG at 950mm (lowered CoG) on a large frame.

With consideration to mass transfer, this characteristic produces a Neutral braking behaviour for predictable ride feel when you hit the brakes.

We are not focussed on weight or price. We are only focussed on performance!

The EXT Storia V4- Specifically designed for the G1

For the G1 project, we envisioned a ‘dream’ shock absorber, bouncing ideas back and forth until we developed a completely bespoke solution that significantly enhances a bicycle’s handling capabilities. Designing for a bicycle’s unique and complex damping requirements, we implemented a progressive damping and spring system. This setup accommodates the bike’s virtually unsprung mass and the rider’s ability to act as a sprung mass independently at each end of the bike. In practice, progressive damping means a very soft initial touch that builds to provide support and resistance as you push harder.

The new EXT V4 Storia retains the hydraulic bottom-out system, offering hydraulic support in the final 10% of the stroke. Exclusively for the G1 dampers, we included spherical eyelet bearings. The latest feature in the V4 is the hydraulic top-out system, which provides resistance in the final few millimeters of shock stroke extension to counteract top-out energy. With carefully calculated leverage ratios and damping rates, we can accommodate riders of all weights without compromise. For instance, a medium-sized rider (85 kg) on a medium G1 will use a 400-450 spring, depending on configuration, while a XXL rider (125 kg) will require a spring between 550 and 600 lbs.

Deviating from this optimised setup on the G1 would be like missing a note in a symphony.

Extra Love Kits

This describes the selection of anodised from parts that you can accessorise your build with to add a dash of colour: shock linkage, bearing pre-load caps and cable guides.

We offer “Extra Love Kits” in a variety of anodised colours. Black is always popular but we can supply seven alternative colours.

Choose from Black / Silver / Orange / Red / Blue / Green / Purple / Titan – Grey.

Sizing Guide

There is no right or wrong size for you, pick the size that feels the most comfortable and confidence inspiring for your riding style.

A few years back we used Long / Longer / Longest / Extra Longest to describe the sizing of our models (our Small sized frames had the same reach measurement as most manufacturers XL sized frames) but the mainstream manufacturers are slowly evolving, growing their bikes millimetre by millimetre and degree by degree one model year at a time (remember when every company was using Longer, Lower and Slacker in their marketing campaigns)   The G1 geometry is not based around gender but rather a selection of sizing from Small to XXL that is ideal for almost any sized person, the G1 is very configurable, we can adjust for a huge variety of trail styles, riding styles, rider injuries and bike setup preferences. If you don’t “fit” into this category then we offer bespoke TAILOR MADE frames that are customer specific, you have free reign over all dimensions. When looking for a starting point to pick a size we recommend using the “Reach” measurement as it dictates how the bike actually fits you. It governs if a bike is too cramped or too stretched out for you. It’s a good indicator of how roomy the bike will feel when you are in your attack position standing on the pedals riding down the trail! So what G1 frame size should you ride?   We would strongly urge you to visit our HQ and try out our demo bikes! We understand this is not always an option for our overseas customers so here’s an easy-to-digest table with ‘rider height’ in one column and ‘frame size’ in the other….   But before looking at the table please ask yourself these questions when determining frame size:   1, Do you have a good range of movement? i.e. no injuries that hinder / restrict body movement? 2, What’s your cycling background, did you grow up on BMX and 4x or make the transition from road cycling? 3, What style of trail are you riding? Steep or undulating, fast and open or tight and technical, natural or bike park. 4, Are you a wheels on the ground rider or do you send it? 5, Are you “active” on the bike picking out the flow lines or do you tend to straight-line trails? 6, How do you like your bike to feel? Stable or agile?

FRAME SIZE RIDER HEIGHT (GUIDE)
(S) SMALL 160-172cm
(M) MEDIUM 170-180cm
(L) LARGE 178-188cm
(XL) X-LARGE 185-195cm
(XXL) XX LARGE 193-202cm

All of these factors come into play when determining frame size, sizing up is almost always faster against the stop watch BUT it does demand a more committed riding style more of the time. Our concern is that this could become a handful on longer days in the saddle when you become fatigued and posture / bike position becomes sloppy! Please feel free to call or email us if you want talk through options or get a second opinion.

Size Specific Geometry

We believe that there are some basic, ‘size dependent’ measurements-

In crafting the G1 series, our paramount consideration was achieving a rider-bike synergy that maximises confidence and control on the trail. To empower riders across all 5 frame sizes, we meticulously tuned the geometry to ensure consistent weight distribution through the contact patches. This involved maintaining a balanced front and rear centre ratio that scales uniformly across frame sizes as well as a balanced reach to stack ratio. As a result, whether on a small or XXL frame, riders can confidently initiate direction changes, navigate obstacles, and optimise braking traction without the need for exceptional flexibility or skill. Riders are able to maintain a comfortable consistent body position while maintaining load on the tyres and use the available amplitude of their joints to efficiently respond to the trail. While advanced suspension systems undoubtedly contribute to that ride quality, the rider’s space and relationship between the contact points are fundamental to handling and manoeuvrability.

For a closer look at our meticulously chosen geometry numbers follow the links above to our mutation chart and tech sheet.

Buying your new G1

Not so fast! You might be looking for the click to buy button by now,  It’s understandable after scrolling through the G1 product features. If you’re ready to buy then we kindly ask you to submit a build request form above or submit a contact request below.

We like customer interaction here at Geometron bikes so as soon as we can get to your email or build request we will be in contact to go through your order with a fine toothed comb. We can make sure you’re on the right configuration, you’re rolling on all of your favourite components and that they all match your dream build vision. At this point we can also get to know each other better and share  lead times, generate itemised quotes and make sure all of our custom suspension tuning notes are correct.

When we’re both sure your dream G1 is coming together  we are able to take payments quickly and securely using PayPal. There is no need to sign up for a PayPal account. You may use either a credit card, a debit card or  access PayPal’s finance options.
